I Love You, Keep Going - May 17
This album is more than just a collection of songs; it's a lifeline for those who may feel lost or alone in their struggles. It's a reminder that it's okay to not be okay and that there is strength in seeking help and support. Through its poignant storytelling and heartfelt delivery, this mental health themed album (released in 2 EPs) offers solidarity & understanding to anyone who has ever grappled with their mental health or battled addiction.
I'm Sara Syms, a Nashville-based singer-songwriter and mental health advocate. I've battled depression and anxiety most of my life. As a kid, I was involved in everything—I excelled as an internationally competitive figure skater, classically trained in piano and violin, and part of a world-renowned children's choir. The death of my mom at 19 deeply affected how I navigated the world. Spent years numbing out, self-medicating, and avoiding it all.
Latest album The Darkest Light (2022) was my homecoming album. Back into the music scene after a much needed mental hiatus. It helped me tap into my demons, insecurities, existential themes, belief systems and maneuver through uncertainty - the pandemic, political polarization and catastrophic unknowns. It helped me understand myself better as a human, and how I navigate through life. However, the process of uncovering this all, landed me in treatment after an uphill battle, emotionally unhinged.
Upcoming album (2 part EP) I Love You, Keep Going shares my cathartic journey with depression, anxiety, and trauma recovery. I spent the summer of 2021 in residential treatment at Integrative Life Center (Nashville), where I wrote many songs as part of my healing, including all tracks on this album.
I write songs to offer a beacon of hope and validation to those who are struggling to see their worth. By sharing my own experiences and fostering connection and community, I aim to uplift and inspire others, reminding them that they are not alone in their struggles and that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Through the power of music, I seek to create a space where every individual feels seen, heard, and valued, where hope and healing can flourish, one song at a time.
So, to anyone who has ever felt lost in the storm, know this: You are not alone. You are worthy of love, of healing, of a brighter tomorrow. And as you press play on the next track of your life, remember the words whispered in the melody: "I love you, keep going."

ABOUT THE SONGS
I Love You, Keep Going is a lifeline for those who may feel lost or alone in their struggles. It's a reminder that it's okay to not be okay and that there is strength in seeking help and support. Through its poignant storytelling and heartfelt delivery, this ballad offers solidarity & understanding to anyone who has ever grappled with their mental health or battled addiction.
Souls on a Line is a maniacal depiction of what it feels like to be trapped in ones mind. As we stumble through the maze of our own thoughts and emotions, grappling with inner demons and uncertainties, this dark western “Marty Robbins”-esque vibe offers a message of hope and empowerment, encouraging us to embrace our freedom to fail, forgive, and fall, and to find strength in the journey of self-acceptance and healing.
These Days is a cathartic reflection on my struggles living with depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. Grappling with my inner demons and finding the courage to seek help and spend a summer in residential treatment. A glimpse into the depths of the human experience, inner anguish and shedding light on the complexities of mental health and the path to healing.
Inside the Surrender is a raw and honest depiction of resilience and self discovery encouraging listeners to embrace their vulnerability and sit with their emotions. As we surrender to the depths of our souls, we learn to discern what to hold onto and what to release, finding strength and clarity in the process. When we're no longer able to run, there’s healing in letting go.
Carried Away in my opinion is the album’s mantra. Our struggle through the pandemic, crippling fear, political polarization and catastrophic unknowns. Sitting in our truth and making a choice. In this moment, do I choose fear or do I choose love?
